Apart from being colourful & fun (to make you excited when you look at them), these planners are also practical: the daily boxes have plenty of space for events and birthdays. You can also use stickers to indicate specific events or appointments!
For your random ideas, there’s a separate box for notes, and if you want to remember the most important things this month, there’s also a to-do list. List your must-dos (& want-to-dos!) for the months and tick them off as you’re done with them!

How to use this type of planner: Print it in A4 and hang it on your wall (bonus points for matching washi tape), or print it in A5 and add it to your L-size filofax or planner! :)

Happy planning!

The ultimate Roadtrip Mixtape

By Livia

I’m the kind of person that has created soundtracks to their life, and also makes up video clips in their head when hearing music. Hands up if you’re like that, too! Summer tunes are especially important to me, and I can still remember how I felt when I listened to certain songs. (Lady by Modjo will forever be our jam, it was the big hit in 2000 when we fell in love. Aaw.)

Buckle up, hit the road, find yourself

Whether you’re escaping to another country, to the seaside, a nice terrace with a cold drink, or just a cool corner in your room, having the fitting tunes adds to your summery mood. Hit play, sing along, let your hair loose and the world go by & enjoy!

Staycation on your own: how to make the most out of a no-travel holiday

By Livia

staycation

I love staycationing.

The concept started out in the US as a term for people who couldn’t afford to go on a big, multiple-week trip or just couldn’t make the time for it, and it was mainly about figuring out ways to stay at home and still get a vacation-like experience — on a budget.

More recently it also appeared in the UK where, even though people go on holidays instead of vacations, the word also took off, not necessarily as a stay-at-home concept but an expression meaning ‘travelling but still staying in the country’. Someone leaving England for Wales (or Sussex for Devon) could still call their trip a staycation because they didn’t need a passport or different money.

Honestly, I can’t count these as staycations. If you’ve slept in another bed, woke up in another town, had to sit in a car / on a train / bus for hours to get there, you’re on your holidays, mate!

For me, a staycation is more about the mindset. What I mean by staycationing is creating the experience of a holiday and the carefree feeling of summer while staying where you are.

Because sometimes you just don’t have the time (or money) to travel a county or state away, and that’s okay. You can still enjoy your summer and have fun. I’ll show you how!

June is here! How did that happen? Inspired by pastel sky colours, and gelato (obviously), the June calendar has a marble pattern in these amazing colours. For your other plans, you can write your ideas in the separate box for notes and there’s also a to-do list. List your most important tasks for June and tick them off as you’re done with them!

The best indie magazines (and where to find them)

By Livia

Print’s not dead. In fact, it’s alive and kicking, it just upped the game! Getting a new magazine is not a commodity anymore, but a treat. And what a treat it is if the pages & the content are top notch! Some titles seem to deliberately use matte paper, not just because it’s more aesthetically pleasing but probably to also subconsciously tell you: this is not your regular glossy mag. Reading these magazines is definitely a sort of ritual that can be part of your downtime and help you relax.

I’m a big fan of paper and the written word, and with the emerging trend of quality magazines (more and more of them including stationery goodies), I’m spoiled for choice. Below is a selection of what I currently consider the best indie magazines out there, plus where you can get them – if you’re into crafting, interior design, beautiful illustrations, or even blogging, you’re going to love these! :)

How to pack a minimalist beauty bag for your carry-on

By Livia

I love to travel and I love the challenge of bringing only carry-on luggage. It’s a good opportunity to realise how little you really need and how you can minimalise your essentials. In this post, I collected all my personal favourite tips & tricks on how to pack a beauty bag that will fit your carry-on AND see you through a whole week or more.

Skincare

You’ll need something that you can layer easily depending on how much hydration you need. Take a small jar (or decant some of a big one) of Egyptian Magic cream, which is a multipurpose balm made of olive oil, royal jelly and propolis. Now you have a cleansing balm to take your makeup off, hand cream, body lotion, lip balm, and you can also use it on your hair as a conditioner. A little goes a long way, but that also means it will last you more. :) It’s also good for burns, rashes or bug bites; an ideal travel companion! For a similar product that can be used as a skin cleanser & moisturiser, try Lush’s Ultrabland.

Minimalism done right: simplify your routine, boost your productivity

By Livia

Minimalism isn’t just a trend involving black, grey and white interiors. It’s not just a snobbish hobby for the bored middle-class, and it’s not about strict living and sucking the joy out of your life. Of course, as with everything, you can always take minimalism too far and be a minimalist for minimalism’s sake.

But there’s an aspect of simplifying that can have a truly beneficial effect on your life beyond feeling smug for following a trend. Here’s how embracing minimalism in certain areas of your life can help you be more productive and happy.

When your away from home, just a small suitcase for your belongings, you can truly harness the power of less. Sometimes you don’t even use half of what you’ve packed, even though next time you still might pack another pair of jeans, just in case. Like the fact that two was enough before a million times was an accident, and NOW you’ll be stranded without a third pair!

Still, after a few days with your limited options, you’ll find that just a few items — whether it’s clothes, the contents of your make-up bag, accessories — can be more than enough. Using just a couple of products in the morning is suddenly not limiting but liberating. You don’t have to spend any thought on what should you wear — there’s not many to choose from, to begin with. And that’s the beauty of minimalism: how less can equal more.

And this ‘more’ is not more stuff, but rather: freedom. More time for what’s truly important. More clarity on what’s truly important. When you know you don’t need to spend any unnecessary minute on deciding between mundane options, you don’t waste your valuable time. Bonus: even perfectionism and procrastination have fewer chances to butt in your business!

The Clarity Planner: reach your goals by reflecting on where you are

By Livia

Click here to download the planner

The best way to approach goal setting is first taking stock of what you currently have.

Then describe how that makes you feel.

Deciding on whether this is what you want in your life or not is the next step.

And if the answer is ‘no, what I want is currently not what I have‘, all is left to do is fill in the gap. Of course, the juicy bits are in that gap: struggling, understandings, battling procrastination, perfectionism… But it all starts with taking stock and figuring out if it feels good to be right here, right now.

In recent years, it has become a tradition in our home to regularly set time aside to reflect on the past few months to see whether where we are is in line with where we want to go.

For years, we’ve devoted these check-in sessions to discuss both our happiest and hardest moments, to appreciate the challenges that have shaped us, to find things to be grateful for, and to make plans and set intentions for the months ahead.

You see, I’m a firm believer that the short time between Christmas and New Year’s is neither the best time to try and fit all reminiscing and planning into, nor I think should it be the only time in the year we do that.

If you make a habit of stopping to take note of the where you are and how you’re doing with your goals, you’ll not only be more clear about your life in general, you’ll also be more prepared when something unexpected demands your time and resources.

My newest printable, The Clarity Planner helps you do just that. This beautifully illustrated workbook will help you reflect on your current life and setting goals for the upcoming months — with pages and pages of prompts, fill-in sentences and questions that lead you to your answers, goal lists, inspiration, resolutons, ideas, and, on the practical side, blank (dateless) pages for your agenda.

Why write all this down? Well, when you phrase your feelings and goals in writing, they are always more concrete than when vague feelings just float about in your head. Also, the snapshot you make of your life today also makes a good keepsake, and even in just one year it helps you to see how far you’ve come.

Some of my readers who’ve been using my printable planner format for years do a check-in at least once every year, which provides them with a constant progress tracker.

The Clarity Planner includes:

  • Your life snapshot
  • Changes and reflections in 6 categories
  • Your Life Pie (colouring highly recommended! :)
  • Mood Boosters
  • Resolution Re-Evaluations
  • The Resolution Planner

Bonus pages to help your planning work:

  • year at a glance
  • month on 2 pages
  • week on 2 pages (with space for most important tasks, meal plan and water tracker!)
  • daily planner for busy days (with meal plan, to-dos and shopping list)
  • a list for birthdays
  • cleaning lists (good for delegating tasks and freeing up time for yourself!),
  • and an important page for screenings and checkups.

The pages are not numbered, so feel free to print only the pages you need. The planner is a size A4/A5, and can fit into a size L filofax (or any ring binder of that size).

Click here to download the planner

I hope filling out the pages brings you some clarity regarding where you are in your life, the life you want to get to, and how you can take care of yourself on the way.
